You Best Fly: Trashy Art Collab

This piece began during a "Here for Good Business" workshop with QC Family Tree in May, 2025, where attendees were encouraged to bring items they had in excess or wanted to discard. At the workshop, they were guided through a mediation and breathwork to surrender these items. They were educated on assemblage and shown examples. Participants organized their items by color and shared stories with the group about their items. Following the painted wing color guide created before the workshop, we worked collaboratively to place our trash. To complete the butterfly wings, I filled the space around the wings with glass and filled in any gaps with more trash. Lastly, I hinged the panels. The wings have been displayed at QC Family Tree's "Funeral for the Empire," and in a curated show at the Art's Factory, Fall, 2025.
